The idea
"Empowering Migrant Women in Enfield" is a 3-month local initiative supporting 20–24 migrant and ethnic minority women to build confidence, improve their spoken English, and strengthen life and employability skills.
We will deliver weekly in-person workshops from our community venue in Southgate, covering topics such as communication, wellbeing, CV building, interview skills, and local engagement. Each participant will also receive tailored 1:1 mentoring to support goal setting, personal development, and next-step planning.
The programme will conclude with a “Celebration and Progression Day” where women will share their journeys, connect with local services, and explore further training, volunteering, or employment opportunities.
By creating a safe and inclusive space, this project will help women overcome isolation, increase confidence, and feel empowered to participate fully in the social and economic life of Enfield.
What we'll deliver
- A 12-week structured development and wellbeing programme for 20–24 migrant and ethnic minority women in Enfield
- Weekly 2-hour in-person workshops delivered at our Southgate venue
- One-to-one mentoring sessions for each participant to identify personal goals and overcome barriers
- Printed materials, stationery, and refreshments to support an inclusive, welcoming environment
- A “Celebration and Progression Day” to mark the end of the programme and celebrate the participants' growth.
- A short impact report shared with the local community and funders
Why it's a great idea
Our project will create a real, lasting impact for women who often face language barriers, social isolation, and limited access to opportunities. By focusing on confidence-building, practical life and employment skills, and wellbeing, we aim to empower our beneficiaries to feel more connected, capable, and hopeful about their futures.
Participants will gain improved spoken English, stronger communication skills, and practical tools like CVs and interview preparation. They will also benefit from 1:1 mentoring to set and work towards personal goals.
Beyond individual growth, the project will foster peer support and community connection. We expect increased engagement with local services, volunteering, training, and employment.
For the wider community, the initiative will contribute to a more inclusive and cohesive Enfield, where underrepresented women feel seen, supported, and able to contribute their skills and energy.
