The idea
Ed's Riff Shop started out life as a group of guys casually getting together to master the great riffs of the music world. Set up by one of our lovely trustees Ed Barton to help people learn guitar regardless of their ability. We now want this to become a permanent, weekly fixture at Boaty Theatre Company's The Boat Shed in Ellesmere Port and need your help!
The group is attended by men age 40+ (Though we are inclusive of everyone) who play, want to learn or just need a friendly face and a cuppa. The group have supported each other through some difficult times during the pandemic and we welcome everyone with open arms.
What we'll deliver
- Free access to musical instruments
- Free refreshments
- Opportunity to perform
- Access to recording equipment
- Free weekly guitar class
Why it's a great idea
This project is a wellness-based project that aims to provide a safe space for men to talk freely, make friends and build positive relationships.
We have teamed up with our local social prescribers to be able to have access to mental health services if they are required, but we mostly offer a smile and a friendly ear if you need one.
We have access to recording equipment and would love to welcome new people in to help us record an EP.
Steps to get it done
- Run a successful crowdfunding campaign
- Hire the space for the year and purchase necessary equipment
- Welcome people to join Ed's Riff Shop on a weekly basis
