More about our impact
The environment
We have planted many plants that are beneficial for insects and wildlife. we have composted waste. We have sheet mulched the ground at All Souls Church to reduce water loss, and to improve the soil structure. No dig gardening is a huge benefit to microorganisms and worms below the surface.
The local economy
People stop to thank us when we are planting and weeding for the beautiful gardens and planters. Some people travel from out of area to see our work. Two new coffee shops and a nailbar have opened in the past 3 months and we have requests for more planters. The butcher said he loves his planter, many people ask him what is growing and he is now watering the 3 planters closest to his shop. The local church community love the gardens and kindly donate lots of plants and seeds.
Volunteering, jobs & education
We have lots of volunteering opportunities to suit different lifestyles and people. we have a regular group once a week. but other people are able to get involved with just watering & some guerilla garden the site (adding some stunning plants)
Arts, culture & heritage
We were asked to participate in the Jubilee Flower Festival at All Souls Church and helped the All Souls brownie unit plant a rose bush in All Souls Church gardens to mark 100 years of the brownies.
Activity, health and leisure
The All Souls Church gardens in particular are really well used now. We have created a beautiful safe place for people to chill out. The gardens are very well used now, compared to 3 years ago when the area was full of litter and looked unloved
