The idea

Like many small rural schools, budgets are challenging so aspirations to improve the education and wellbeing of children at Pendock unfulfilled. We need help with funds to improve the existing early years space because its is no longer weatherproof, tired & needs structural improvement & extension so children can play and learn safely and in inclusive and nurturing environment.

We would like to renew and extend the area and fill the early years area with new play & learning resources that enhances development and the overall experience of education. We would like to replace the roof structure and canopy covering the outdoor space which has become dilapidated and has meant during poorer weather resources have been damaged & children unable to access.

Money would also go towards the purchase of new resources such as arts and crafts materials, tools, sensory items, outdoor play equipment, storage, and decoration to transform the space and the offer for our youngest pupils age 3-7.

What we'll deliver

  • Replace existing roof structure and canopy covering and extend the space used for our Early Years and KS1 pupils
  • Purchase new storage and furniture and redecorate the area with artwork
  • Purchase new toys, books, outdoor play equipment and sensory items

Why it's a great idea

The improvements would transform our early years offer to pupils and parents attending Pendock Primary. We are hoping to attract and expand the numbers of local children to join the school to ensure a sustainable future as a small rural primary and to be able to offer an inspiring and fun place to start their educational journey. Money raised will help us as a school to achieve this ambition.
Having access to good quality space and resources will aide development through play and learning which positively impacts on the growth and progression of young children. We want them to feel safe, happy and inspired, and have an inclusive and enjoyable space they can connect and make long-lasting friendships which will help them achieve 'to be their best' -one of our core values at Pendock Primary School. We have local parents who have limited access to community space and the school is used to promote family & intergenerational play and relationships to help build a stronger local community.

Steps to get it done

  • Procure and appoint contractor to replace structure
  • Structural and decorative work to be undertaken during Summer break ready for Sept 24 new term
  • Purchase and installation of new books, toys, play equipment and storage
