Bike shelter and ebikes 4 Mount Pleasant
We are crowdfunding a lockable, secure, off street bike shelter, e-charger, 1 e-bike and 1 e-trike to help our community be healthier, explore further afield and be kinder to the planet.
About the Project Creator
Hub on the Hill is a "community living room" in Rhondda Street, provided by Coastal Housing Association as part of their commitment to building community cohesion. The Hub is run entirely by volunteer neighbours, supported by our Local Area Co-ordinator and the Coastal Housing Officer and caretaker.
The Hub is accross the road from the green HM Convenience Store. You can't miss us, we have a giant verison of our logo on the wall. Until Covid struck, we hosted a wide variety of community actvities. The largest of these was a community play street as part of The Big Lunch in 2019. Our Arts and Crafts night, Yarn Punk session, Card Making and Vegan Suppers were of our most popular, ongoing events.
Now a bit about me, I am Leonie Ramondt and have been part of the Hub's core team since we started. I am passionate about the power of communities to thrive when they get together and make things happen. I am currently chair of Swansea Co-Housing, an RSA Fellowship Councillor (a posh name for volunteer co-ordinator ;o).
Before moving to Swansea four years ago, I was a researcher /educator at ULTRALAB and Anglia Ruskin University and subsequently established the Ideas Hub in Chelmsford and ran the Ideas Festival Chelmsford for 4 years.
I've fallen in love with Mount Pleasant and have been involved with various community initiatives such as Rosehill Quarry Community Park, Hub on the Hill, Primrose Hill Community Park and several Street Play/ Big Lunch/ Great Get togethers.
I've ridden bikes since I was 5 years old and was a bike courier in my twenties. Cycling transformed me from a 60 a day cigarette smoker who couldn't walk up a hill, to someone fit and healthy. I would love to get back into cycling and I believe e-biking is a fab way to get and stay fit and should be easily accessible to everyone, especially people who live on steep hills!
eTrikes can also open up a whole world of exploration for people as they age or have mobility issues.
Sharing ebikes also helps us build a more sustainable future.
