More about our impact
The environment
The young people are continually reminded in the importance of keeping the Youth Club and surrounding playing fields clear of litter and where ever possible to recycle. The planting of wild flowers in the village is a long term project and we plan to get involved by helping clearing some of the unwanted plants.
The local economy
We employed 4 Youth Workers, we raised money for local charities via the Swimathon and also use local shops to purchase the sweets, and drinks that we sell to the Young People during our sessions.
Volunteering, jobs & education
The Youth Workers have been able to attract a number of new volunteers who want to give something back to the community but we have others who want to build their own confidence and learn new skills. Plus the older members of the club are given responsibilities which help them learn new life skills
Arts, culture & heritage
We are in the middle of a major art project to build a mosaic of the village which will eventually be displayed at our local station. Most weeks we will have an art session which can be from sketching, colouring to nail art.
Activity, health and leisure
Each week we have many healthy activities taking place from dance, basketball, badminton large impromptu football matches or just running about having fun. We entered a team in to the Rotary Swimathon, although we had some good swimmers we also had some that could hardly swim a length, but the kept going and were a big inspiration for others who said next year the would get involved.
