By Cuddington & Sandiway Youth Club
To fund qualified Youth Workers to work in conjunction with existing volunteers to increase the number of sessions and types of activities delivered to the young people in the village
In 2015 the Cuddington and Sandiway Youth Club closed down. Concerned about the absence of activities for young people in the village a group of parents started to work with local volunteers and Councillors to provide a new youth Club for the village. Since the Club re-opened in September 2021 progress has been amazing, the Club has a membership of over 100 registered and an average of 30 young people attend the sessions. The regular helpers continue to support the Club’s activities but they’re aware that they do need the support of qualified Youth Workers to enable them to continue, increase the number of sessions and add to the activities on offer. Young people and Leaders are ambitious for the future and are seeking to develop the range of activities on offer. Given how far they’ve traveled in the past 2 years who knows what the future will look like! To succeed they’ll need support from the whole Community, our businesses , local groups and individuals.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
The funding will enable us to open the Youth Club on a weekly basis and provide valuable activities for the young people in the village. Giving the young people a channel to express their creativity, learn from others and spend valuable time with their friends and making new ones. Youth Club members are looking forward to working with Friends of Cuddington station, artists and pupils from the village schools to create a ceramic map of the village and its landmarks, developing a greater awareness of place, encouraging their creativity, and pride in their environment. Funding will help us to expand the work with local artists and enable members to sample a range of mediums and techniques. Youth Club Members are passionate to support Cheshire West Climate Emergency and would welcome the opportunity via the funding to plant wild flowers to encourage biodiversity using an undeveloped area of the playing fields
Steps to get it done:
The Youth Club nurtures and shapes young people and provides opportunities to develop life long skills, interests and enthusiasms. The Youth Club has reduced instances of Anti- Social Behavior by providing a safe secure space
