More about our impact

More about our impact

The environment

The environment

We have improved what was previously and overgrown and unusable small piece of land and created an area to be enjoyed by the local community.

The local economy

The local economy

We have several small allotments and aim to create more growing space enabling local people to benefit from growing their own produce.

Volunteering, jobs & education

Volunteering, jobs & education

We still have a few regular volunteers, others come as they feel able. More recently we have links with social prescribing and welcomed several people on site with mental health issues or learning disabilities.

Arts, culture & heritage

Arts, culture & heritage

Gardening is creative and the Community Garden will continue to develop ideas helping local people to nurture and develop their creativity. We have a project at the moment involving Brownie Guides and Mencap to design and build, with the help of a professional artist, an art installation to enhance the appearance of an aluminium fence running along the perimeter of the newly created garden.

Activity, health and leisure

Activity, health and leisure

Our official opening and Jubilee Party brought many people onto the site, enjoying what was a lovely day. We are looking to develop more growing space for local people to grow their own produce. Volunteering gives people the opportunity to work alongside others and enjoy the health benefits of being out in the open air and making new friends, enhancing physical, mental and social well being.
