We want to create a year-long programme of weekly creative workshops in Spalding to support emotional wellbeing and reduce loneliness. Through activities like clay modeling, painting, crocheting, and dreamcatcher making, combined with guided breathing techniques and mindfulness exercises, we will provide a safe, welcoming space for young people, adults, and seniors struggling with depression, anxiety, and emotional crises.
Alongside the workshops, we will organise four one-day public events — "Days of Wellbeing and Creativity" — featuring art sessions, mindfulness walks, yoga, emotional resilience workshops, and exhibitions of participants' work.
We will deliver:
40 weekly creative workshops
40 guided relaxation sessions
4 community wellbeing events (5+ hours each)
This project will complement NHS mental health support and strengthen the Spalding community by connecting people through creativity, care, and hope.
What we'll deliver:
- 40 creative workshops in Spalding: clay modeling, painting, drawing, crocheting, and making dreamcatchers.
- 40 guided relaxation and breathing technique sessions to support mindfulness and emotional regulation
- All necessary materials and art supplies provided for participants at workshops and events.
- 4 one-day wellbeing events with art workshops, mindfulness walks, yoga, resilience talks, and exhibitions.
- Community showcases displaying participants' artworks during the events.
- Marketing and outreach efforts to engage schools, GP's, community groups, and young creatives across Spalding.
- An evaluation report summarizing project impact and collecting participant feedback at the end of the programme.
- A free, welcoming space for all ages to enjoy creative workshops and mindfulness activities throughout the year.
- • Gather feedback from participants, volunteers, and community members
Why it's a great idea:
Our project will provide a safe, welcoming space in Spalding where people of all ages can boost their emotional wellbeing through creativity and mindfulness. Weekly workshops will help participants develop skills like clay modelling, painting, crocheting, and making dreamcatchers, while also learning breathing and relaxation techniques to manage stress, anxiety, and emotional challenges.
The project will reduce loneliness, support mental health, and strengthen community ties by offering regular social contact and shared creative activities. Four open community events will celebrate wellbeing, promote connection, and showcase participants' talents, creating pride and a stronger sense of belonging.
By providing free, accessible activities, we will reach people who may otherwise lack opportunities for emotional support or creative engagement, complementing NHS and GP efforts to support mental health in Spalding.
