Bringing community aspirations to life - building civic pride by encouraging creative solutions.
By Coaley Recreation Action Group
CRAG aim to regenerate the rec and have designed the space to include a new children’s play area, accessible seating, planting, exercise equipment and an all weather track.
The long-term mission for the recreation-ground regeneration is to create and maintain a rich natural environment where everyone, especially children and young people, can enjoy the outdoors, play freely and creatively with their peers and follow their interests. This phase of the project is to build an all weather track around the perimeter of the community space to ensure access to all areas and features. Paths are 1.2 metres wide with wider areas at intervals enabling wheelchairs users and mobility scooters to pass and/or turn. Paths are un-obstructed by obstacles such as bins or vegetation for those with visual impairment. Benches are spaced at regular intervals along the route in addition to at a terrace close to the shop and village hall facilities. There will be s shade provided by trees and two rectangular sails secured to timber posts.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
We are building attractive, fully accessible paths around our recreation ground so that everyone can get out and have easy access to our play grounds, trim trail and courts and socialise at the picnic areas. It will encourage more people to get out away from social media to socialise together, have fun, improve their health and well being and for our village to develop and thrive!
