Cowfold Community Pool was originally called the Cowfold Memorial Swimming Pool, due to the fact it was built in memory of Brian Faires, George Stevens and Michael Harvey, who all tragically drowned, trying to save their friend on a day trip to the beach.
Our charity has recently been established, to preserve the memory of these brave three men and to ensure that the pool is accessible to everyone.
The pool is an amazing community asset, it is heated by an air source heat pump and cam maintain ambient temperatures of 29-30 degrees all year round. And the pool is enclosed and completely private and not overlooked, which makes it very appealing.
Cowfold Community Pool has always been an intrinisc part of the Cowfold community and so many people have an emotional tie. The pool has been used since it's inception for the village primary school's swimming lessons and it provides many fond memories and anecdotes for people from all generations
We hope that our charity will ensure that the pool receives the attention it deserves. We want to bring the community together and raise the profile of the pool to make it available to everyone for as much of the year as possible.
We know from experience that swimming is one of the best forms of exercise and can have not only physical benefits, but mental health benefits.
We are very fortunate that our pool is versatile and unique, we can use the pool to cater for everybodies needs:
* we can provide access to the school for school swimming lessons.
* We can provide access to individual groups, like Scouts, Brownies, Childrens homes.
* We can provide private swimming lessons and we are looking to offer services to individuals and groups that aren't catered for in mainstream leisure centres.
