The idea
Coquetdale Repair Café in Rothbury is a great opportunity for the local community to help save the planet, meet people, enjoy a chat with tea and cake, and learn new skills in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. You can bring items such as clothes, knitwear and fabrics, toys including your pets' toys, small electricals and furniture, bikes with punctures, etc. Volunteers will be on hand to repair items and teach new repair skills to those interested. Local businesses will be involved and given the chance to meet new customers. The café will be held every 6-8 weeks in the Jubilee Hall in the centre of Rothbury.

What we'll deliver
- Rent room and storage space
- Train 2 PAT-testers and buy PAT test equipment
- Buy tools and consumable items such as wire, threads, glue, nails, etc.
- Buy promotional material including banners to show where/when the café is open
- Provide refreshments for the café
- Buy small presents or an annual lunch to thank volunteers for their time

Steps to get it done
- Engage pool of volunteers (repairers, other helpers, catering)
- Engage local businesses
- Arrange recurring bookings at Jubilee Hall
- Advertise Repair Café meetings in local media
- Hold Repair Café events, evaluate afterwards and improve where possible
- Secure continuity of project by securing necessary funding
In the future, we aim to take Coquetdale Repair Café to more remote villages in Upper Coquetdale.
