Brilliant news, thanks everyone!
By Team Oasis
Team Oasis has an allotment at Parkhill allotments. We would like to develop this to include our senior citizens enjoying the space. A great space to socialise, keep active and reduce isolation.
Team Oasis is thrilled to open up our Parkhill Allotments space to local senior citizens with our 'Cool Allotment For Seniors' project inviting them to create a flourishing garden filled with plants and fresh produce to share with the community. This practical, local allotment with its two spacious planters, offers more than just a garden – it’s a place to make friends, stay active, and bring purpose to each day. Seniors will not only enjoy growing and nurturing their plants but will also gain a rewarding sense of service, knowing they’re contributing to a shared bounty that supports and uplifts our community. And so local to our centre that they can always pop in for a butty. Together, we’ll grow food, friendships, and joy!
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Our Cool Allotment for Seniors Project will give twelve seniors a joyful space to stay active, socialize, and grow vibrant flowers, plants, and food. This enriching experience brings purpose, improved mindfulness, friendship, and a deep sense of community contribution
Steps to get it done:
Our 'Cool Allotment For Seniors' project offers seniors a nearby, fulfilling activity that promotes well-being and connection. Being close to our center means participants have easy access to our Free Food Lounge, always welcoming them with a hot drink and a hearty sandwich, creating a space for relaxing chats and re-energizing. The project not only boosts physical health through gardening but also enhances mental wellness by providing purpose, daily structure, and an opportunity to share in meaningful social interaction. Seniors can enjoy contributing fresh produce to the community, sparking pride and fulfillment, all while feeling genuinely supported and appreciated by Team Oasis.
