This project has an emphasis on networking, job creation and creating lasting connections with community sports teams in Westminster that galvanise support from parents, volunteers and charity programmes. It has the potential to correct a social injustice which is that better-funded clubs have better access to expert resources. The on-demand nature of this business model/project can help bridge the gap between training elite teams receive in comparison to the lack of expert training nonelite teams receive.
The current scarcity of Strength & Conditioning within youth football in the UK is where this local Westminster-founded community enterprise has the opportunity to create a new experience for many.
The project aims to create job opportunities in the gig economy for local Westminster residents (including recent graduates) to seek and build long term relationships with sports teams as potential clients.
What we'll deliver:
- A networking event in Westminister for up to 60 strength & conditioning coaches with a Sports Psychologist guest speaker
- Deliver at least 60 taster strength and conditioning sessions for sports teams and schools in Westminister
- Ensure each of our strength & conditioning coaches has direct access to tracksuit uniform attire
Why it's a great idea:
This project has the potential to positively impact the lives of thousands of boys and girls in Westminster that play competitive sport.
Our customers have organised the space so we don't have to! We simply connect them to the best people we can for training support offering local residents the opportunity at another income, fulfilment and an increase in work experience.
Specific benefits for each side of the marketplace:
Demand (sports teams):
Increase in awareness of strength & conditioning and the benefits it has such as injury prevention
increased robustness to deal with competitive sport
Increase in performance levels including fitness
Increase in awareness of the importance of nutrition when taking part in competitive sport
Supply (new coaches):
Increase in job opportunities on demand for a strength & conditioning coach
Opportunity to gain experience and fulfilment working with young people
Opportunity to earn extra income in addition to existing work or study commitments
Steps to get it done:
- Recruit strength & conditioning coaches via linkedin every month and events
- Register on the Arcadier saas platform to facilitate bookings online
- Deliver more taster football fitness sessions to local sports teams
Our networking event will provide opportunities for new and existing coaches to learn more about our project and gain valuable insights from our guest speaker Dan Abrahams who is a well renowned sports psychologist that has worked with various high performers in sport including young athletes as he will be able to deliver specific tips and insights in group coaching and getting the best out of performers.
This project will also give coaches the opportunity to add value to local charities who run sports programmes and this would be an opportunity to inspire and educate those who come from slightly more difficult backgrounds. Connecting coaches to these kinds of opportunities will be a priority for us.
See link below to view one of our coaches (Raj) offer his services to help support Youth Engagement Solutions who are a charity based in North West London that support people ages between 10-30 with sports and employment programmes.
