Thanks to the money raised through Sefton Crowd-funding Birkdale Community hub and Library has been able to purchase eight desktop computers and monitors, the necessary leads, and software to create a state of the art computer network in the newly re-furbished Station Masters House in the heart of Birkdale Village. The funding raised also contributed to the cost of installing the wiring for the computer network within the building. One computer has been set up for the library staff (all volunteers) to record and issue the library book stock, book meeting rooms and administer the Station Masters House. There is one computer with internet available for public access on the ground floor. The other 6 computers have been set up as a computer suite upstairs. The computer suite is wheelchair accessible and one computer is on a height adjustable desk. The computers will be available free of charge for individual use during the library opening hours. The upstairs computer suite can also be hired for classes. And there is free Wi-Fi throughout the building that can be accessed by individuals from their own devices. We are looking forward to welcoming computer users into the Community Hub and Library as soon as covid regulations permit full access to The Station Master’s House.
A big thank you to all our pledgers. It was great to see such a good response to the article in the paper yesterday. We are now fully funded for the Computers in the Community Hub. The New Year will see Birkdale Community Hub and Library carry on with the building work . Some of the money raised will go towards installing the necessary wiring for the Computer Network at this stage and then the balance will be used for purchasing the PCs, screens etc and associated software when the building is ready. please visit our website www.thestationmastershouse.co.uk to keep up to date with our progress
