More about our impact
The local economy
This project was all about boosting well-being, self-worth, and confidence! When people feel good about themselves, they're more likely to take that next step into employment or take part in other activities. Plus, those who may feel a bit isolated will gain the confidence to explore their communities, which is great news for local businesses as they start spending more locally. When well-being improves, everyone feels the benefit and it's a win-win for everyone!
Volunteering, jobs & education
We had three fantastic regular volunteers join us at our sessions, and one of them became a volunteer cook for a local charity! What’s more, she’s now landed a part-time job as a community baker – how exciting is that? Another of our volunteers is now helping us on a weekly basis to make and sell baked goods to help raise funds for other good causes.
Activity, health and leisure
Baking workshops offer a unique combination of physical activity and mindfulness. Participants engage their senses and focus on the process, which can be a great stress reliever. It also promotes creativity and provides a sense of accomplishment when they see (and taste) the results of their efforts. Plus, sharing baked goods can strengthen community bonds and encourage social interaction. Overall, it’s a delightful way to enhance well-being while enjoying a rewarding and delicious activity!
