More about our impact
The environment
Creating opportunities locally meant people could walk to the activity or make use of local public transport
The local economy
Often people attending would come earlier and enjoy lunch at the different cafes in Wem and do a spot of shopping whilst in the town.
Volunteering, jobs & education
The project provided employment for local arts practitioners to deliver the community sessions. Wem Town Hall's 50 plus strong volunteer team supported the activities with stewarding, setting out tables and chairs and spreading the word about the activity using marketing materials.
Arts, culture & heritage
We were able to employ local arts professionals to deliver activities. Music covering many different styles and eras was used in the sessions prompting discussion about local and world cultures.
Activity, health and leisure
All our sessions promoted movement and community connectivity, providing people with the opportunity to experience an activity at a local, trusted, and accessible venue which combated loneliness and isolation.
