The idea
We are a Community Centre set in the heart of Evesham, we pride ourselves on being able to support our local community with their social, educational, sporting, and other needs.
Our project is to provide emergency support boxes to people in our community who have fallen on financial difficulties due to the current crisis.
We ensure that the boxes have fresh vegetables, fruit and meat/ vegetarian/ vegan alternatives while also providing tins and frozen goods. We try to make sure that everyone has a box they will enjoy and hopefully bring a smile to their face in a difficult time.
At Wallace House we have a great team of staff and volunteers who are passionate about helping the people in their community. Collecting the surplus food from the shops, packing and delivering the boxes is just one of the many ways we show we care for this community.
What we'll deliver
- Increase the number of support boxes going out.
- Advertise the project to more people and local authorities know about it reaching a higher demography.
- Ensure we have the staff/ volunteer up and running for the project to continue.
Why it's a great idea
Our project will ensure that the families and people in our community who have fallen on difficult times will have somewhere to turn, ensuring that they don't go hungry meaning that their children will have the energy to learn, play and not feel scared because they don't know where their next meal is going to come from.
Adults will be able to have meals ensuring that they're healthy and able to do want they need for their families. This also lessens the strain on the NHS as people will get the nutrient they need, helping to stop health-related illnesses due to malnutrition.
We also have been working closely with the local authorities ensuring that vulnerable people who may need extra support due to isolation or mental health get the appropriate support needed for them.
Steps to get it done
- Getting the volunteers together to enhance our centre and the help we can provide.
The sense of community in our town is really heart felt and we would be proud and privileged to be able to continue supporting people who needs us.
