Westminster Families are creating a new community garden on the unused bowling green, George Street, Westminster. A vibrant yet peaceful space to enjoy getting outdoors in Ellesmere port.
Westminster Families want to transform an unused, unloved bowling green on George street Ellesmere port. Outdoor space has never been so important we want to create a haven in the middle of the Westminster. The garden will be run by community for the community, encouraging people to work together to reduce isolation, improve health and provide those in need with fresh produce from it's allotment. The Community Garden will have a sensory garden and lawn area which will offer a peaceful place to engage with nature and bring people together to connect with others within the community. This project will appeal to all within our community.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
The Community garden will bring many benefits to our community, it will provide the opportunity for intergenerational and cross-cultural connections and remove any physical and social barriers. It will improve the health and wellbeing of those involved and relieve the stresses and strains of everyday life. It will enable people to really connect with their community in a meaningful way and encourage self-reliance, working together to find solutions. With rising food costs growing our own will help those struggling with food poverty to access fresh healthy produce. The community garden with also provide a green space for those within our community without gardens and create the opportunity to get active.

About the space
The location is situated in the heart of the Westminster estate. It is one half of a bowling green site which is no longer used. Over the years it has been left unused and unloved and has now started to become an eyesore to the immediate residents.
