The aim of the project is to provide Clay Clubs to support mental health, to bring isolated rural communities together, to tackle loneliness and to impart new skills in a creative and supportive environment. A particular focus is on isolated rural communities that have no access to creative activities. Community Clay Club will bring people together and build strong relationships in and across rural communities in South Shropshire. At a time when people are facing a cost-of-living crisis; Community Clay Club provides a safe space in which people can support one another. The project will contribute to community cohesion, help individuals to feel safe and reduce social exclusion and isolation.
What we'll deliver:
- Deliver 16 x Clay Workshops in community spaces
- Support 200 individuals with their well being in South Shropshire
Why it's a great idea:
This project will help in three areas:
Stress Relief and Mindfulness - Working with clay allows participants to focus on the process, which can promote mindfulness, relaxations and as a stress relief tool.
Social Connection and Support - Rural communities can experience social isolation, but clay provides a space for people to gather, share experiences, and build supportive relationships.
Creative Expresión and Self Esteem - engaging in creative activities like pottery allows individuals to express themselves in a non verbal way, which can be therapeutic. Creating art boosts self esteem and offers a sense of accomplishment.
