By Active Worthing WellBeing Centre (CIC)
Our Life Skills Club will be providing opportunities for face to face activities sessions to combat social isolation. This will enable the participants to foster friendships and (re)gain life skills.
We will support people to combat social isolation and loneliness e.g. the elderly, those with health conditions, disabilities etc to live a healthy life, longer and being independent. We will run a variety of face-to-face sessions that will create opportunities for people to make friendships and learn new skills. Some of the sessions that we will provide will be basic IT skills, Arts and Crafts, Discussion Groups, Quizzes, Gardening, Reading and Writing, Money Management. These sessions will also reflect the preferences of the people attending. Our organisation will be providing services really to combat social isolation and loneliness. The clients are often people in society who are in between NHS care and the formal Social Care Services. We will provide a safe and comfortable environment and will adopt all the Government Guidelines in terms of infection control measures e.g. the Current Covid 19 epidemic.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
•Improving people’s quality of life by helping them feel less isolated within their communities. •By forming and maintaining friendships developed within the sessions. •Coaching life skills that enable people to live more independently and for longer within their homes. Teaching basic I.T skills to help people engage with online services •Relieving pressure on G.Ps by combatting social isolation. This will allow G.Ps more time to focus on people’s medical needs. • This funding will help enable people to access our service and therefore introduce more people to the support we offer. • This is a service that is new to our community and offers support to people that often fall short of adult social care’s criteria. • Activities provided will enhance people’s life skills to live longer, in health and independently
Steps to get it done:
Our organisation will be providing services to combat social isolation and loneliness. These are often people in society who are in between NHS care and the formal Social Care Services. We will provide a safe and comfortable environment and will adopt all the Government Guidelines in terms of infection control measures e.g. with the Current Covid 19 epidemic, we will follow all that is being required of community organisations. By welcoming people into our centre, we will listen to their needs and formulate programs that will best serve them, giving them the confidence to use and enjoy their community as any other citizens.
