We would like to extend our playing area so that we can increase participation as we continue to grow our provision for Junior Boys and Girls.
Our current pitch is not only in need of re-development but is not large enough to accommodate the increasing number of games we would like to play on it. We currently have 10 useable grass pitches to be shared by our 3 senior teams and 5 junior teams. These playing areas wear quickly and it has been necessary to play in less that ideal conditions at times. We would like to extend our playing area to 14 pitches with the existing playing surface being completely re-laid. In doing so, we will be able to provide outstanding conditions for all of our players but perhaps more importantly, we could increase participation.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Increasing the size of the playing area will enable us to greatly improve of provision for young people in the community. In the last 3 years we have provided the opportunity for almost 150 children to experience their first taste of cricket through ECB All Stars and Dynamos sessions and engaging with local schools. If these children are to continue participating and develop their love of the game it is crucial that we are able to provide exit routes from these initiatives, into more formal 'teams' at each age group. By forming 2 new teams for boys and 3 new teams for girls at U9, U15, U17 we will be able to almost double the number of children accessing regular sessions at the club. We would also be capable of providing a much needed space for representative teams from around our locality. Like many clubs, we currently do not have the room to host the number of matches we would like in order to meet the demand for the game which is why we have launched 'Space to Grow'.
