We are a group of parents and teachers from Chisenhale Primary School in Bow, East London. This inner city primary school has 341 pupils (3-11 years). The school is proud of its strong connections with the local community and celebrates the rich ethnic and social diversity of the pupils. Families are strongly encouraged to be involved in school life. It is a warm and welcoming environment for children to learn, play and be nurtured as individuals.
We have come together to create more outdoor space for use by Chisenhale Primary School and the neighbouring local community organisations (Chisenhale Dance Space, Chisenhale Gallery and Chisenhale Art Place). We are living in unprecedented times where we must distance to protect the vulnerable members of our community from Covid-19 infection. This initiative is an opportunity to use public space outside of the school, the Gallery and the Studios. We believe we need to be bold and creative to keep our community safe from infection and connected with one another through education, art, dance and other local events.
