Thank you for that amazing update. As I say and continually say to all and everyone, you have saved my grandson. You have given him his life back. More than any of the so-called professionals and I can never thank u all enough. He is happier and more confident now than he has ever been. He is becoming an amazing fisherman with your support and coaching, which has always been his passion. I will be forever grateful to u all for making such a huge difference by coming into our lives.
We’re thrilled to share the incredible impact this programme is already having across Essex. Over recent weeks, we’ve welcomed young people from a wide range of backgrounds, many of whom had never experienced fishing before. What we’re seeing is truly powerful — not just new skills being learned, but confidence growing with every cast. For some participants, simply being outdoors in a calm, natural setting has made a huge difference. Away from the pressures of school and daily life, they’ve been able to relax, connect with others, and enjoy moments of quiet achievement. Watching a young person catch their very first fish is always special — but what’s even more rewarding is seeing their pride and determination shine through afterwards. We’re also seeing friendships form, conversations open up, and resilience build as young people challenge themselves to keep going, even when the fish aren’t biting! This project is about so much more than fishing. It’s about improving mental wellbeing, encouraging physical activity, and creating a safe, supportive environment where young people can thrive.
