More about our impact
The environment
The exhibition was held in Crawley Museum located in the centre of town and easily accessible by public transport. An online exhibition meant that people could share the experience without having to travel.
The local economy
As the exhibition was in the centre of town, visitors were well placed to take advantage of shops and cafes nearby.
Volunteering, jobs & education
Volunteers took and provided the photos for the exhibition and helped to collate and display the photos. Visitors who attended the exhibition were able to take the time to visit the rest of the museum and learn about the history of their town. The photographs were donated to the museum as a record of these unprecedented times.
Arts, culture & heritage
By recording and displaying the lockdown experiences of a cross section of the whole community, we encouraged many people who would not normally consider visiting a museum to come and view the exhibition and the rest of the museum. Our community links ensured that the experiences of all cultures in Crawley were recorded giving a valuable insight into our residents’ everyday lives. Crawley Museum was given a lasting and invaluable archive of the social history of this period.
Activity, health and leisure
We hope that those people who visited the exhibition who may not have been to the museum before will revisit at a later date to explore the museum again.
