Our volunteer group want to bring back the 18thC walled garden to life at Deal Castle for community use by planting 100 trees to create a wonderful space to unite people together in nature.

Background on Deal With It -Transition Deal
Deal With It is local environment voluntary group, which part of the loose transition town network – which sees community action as key to addressing climate change as well producing better more resilient communities.
We have been going for about 14 years and produce about 5000 volunteer hours per year thru our various projects
In 2019 we were award a Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.

Main activities
- Community Garden at the Landmark Centre (8yrs)
- Edible Garden at Deal Rail Station (8yrs)
- Community Beach Cleans (usually about 1214 volunteers per year)
- Deal Hop Farm (community hop growing project wich 265 sites in the town and some 400 people involved)
- Green Energy events
- Quarterly ‘Seedy Saturday’ seed and plant swaps
- We are a Hub group for the Gleaning network. In 2020 collected10tons of ‘waste’ produce from local farms to foodbanks and social kitchens
- Clean Up Crew Litter picking group
- Part of East Kent Permaculture group
- Hub for Surfers Against Sewage ‘Plastic Free Deal’
- Hub group for Kent Wildlife Trust ‘Guardians of the Deep’ Coastal stewardship project
- Work with BumbleBee Conservation Trust
We are volunteer led organisation with no staff and little money but get a lot done
