Acts of kindness Cheshire West & Chester

We want you to help us deliver more acts of kindness to people who need them, and to increase the number of volunteers doing the acts of kindness in the hope we can create a ripple effect.

The idea

We would like to start a movement to encourage others to be kind. We will do this by working with young people to start a podcast where we will discuss peoples stories around transitioning, racist abuse, or their struggles with cancer. We will run a random act of kindness campaign to raise awareness and we will set up kindness cafes where we will generate ideas such as free sunflower Friday, or coffee and carols in the park.
Finally, we want to do more acts of kindness such as baking cakes for people, gardening, dropping a goodie box off on the doorstep of a recently diagnosed cancer patient, or fitting a key safe for a man so he can go home to die. We currently do about 150 acts of kindness a year and we want to grow this by another 130 and we need your help.

We want to raise money to help us fund more acts of kindness so more people can feel the wellbeing benefits of doing acts of kindness and receiving them too.

What we'll deliver

  • Additional 130 acts of kindness delivered by volunteers
  • Start a podcast to show acts of kindness, and to learn how we can be more accepting to our fellow humans!
  • Run a kindness campaign to create a ripple effect of kindness across our society

Why it's a great idea

We want local people to donate to support local people who need a lift. We cover Cheshire, North Wales and Merseyside. We currently do more acts in Wirral, and want to grow our Chester area.

We know receiving an act of kindness gives people the boost, showing that people care. A volunteer described it as giving someone a virtual hug and we want people to know they are not on this difficult journey called life alone.

We often write on the postcard: so something good has happened today, and that can be enough. However, some people have used it as a way to be motivated to acts of kindness for others, maybe giving them some cuttings for their garden, or making a cake for a neighbour, passing it on and creating the ripple effect of kindness, which is contagious!

We want the people who do the acts of kindness to feel the wellbeing like a healthier heart, joy, anti-ageing and better relationships.

The podcast will help spread kindness, helping people understand how they can be kinder.

Steps to get it done
