Acts of kindness Cheshire West & Chester
We want you to help us deliver more acts of kindness to people who need them, and to increase the number of volunteers doing the acts of kindness in the hope we can create a ripple effect.
About the Project Creator
Acts has three themes for its products and services
Doing Acts of kindness, we have a small group of volunteers who travel around Chester, Wirral and North Wales delivering acts of kindness to people who are having a difficult time.
We have connections in the local hospitals, and social prescribing team who are our ‘Acts Ambassadors’ sending referrals for people who are most in need. This could be a pamper box for someone undergoing cancer treatment, some underwear or sanitary products for a homeless person, or some shopping for someone who cant get out.
"Please can my patient have an act of kindness, he loves a back scratcher, Liverpool football club and diet coke"
Your kindness exceeds anything I have ever witnessed in hospital, the community. you make a huge impact on the lives of people you havent even met (including myself!).
Encouraging others to do acts of kindness. We know there are 5 wellbeing benefits to doing acts of kindness – a healthier heart, joy, its contagious, anti-aging and better relationships. We want to find ways to give people the opportunity to practice kindness examples include:
- Kindness workshops and worksheets
- A young person run podcast sharing stories and exploring what kindness is: Don’t be a Dwad | a podcast by sonia64 (podbean.com)
- Branded clothing with kindness messages to remind people to look for opportunities
- Kindness café events, where people come together to plan and do random acts of kindness campaigns together.
Building a kindness community, we have a small group of volunteers who want to give their time to run things they are passionate about and want to encourage others to get involved. Activities include walking, meditation, cycling and Tai Chi. There will always be a coffee and cake available after the session and a chance for people to build relationships.
We support families with purposeful long term acts of kindness:
"After having a stroke, Peter needed extra speech and language therapy and physiotherapy. His friends and family were amazing over the 12 months, raising money through monthly donations (now being processed through the charity) and fundraising events including the Chester half-marathon and iron man! Peter’s progress has been incredible. His highlight was being able to walk his daughter down the aisle when she recently got married. Peter has recently run the Chester 10km which raised over £6000 for acts as a thankyou for our support over the years."
