The Bognor Makerspace is a new community enterprise in the form of a shared and collaborative workshop space right in the middle of Bognor Regis. The Makerspace will provide unique, inclusive facilities that will benefit children, young people and adults and will attract professional arts practitioners to the area. The Bognor Makerspace will address particular social needs in particular:
1. Helping to build a skilled workforce for West Sussex
2. Providing training and work experience opportunities for adults with learning disabilities and mental health issues
3. Contributing high-quality arts activities that enhance Bognor’s reputation as an important cultural centre
4. Reducing loneliness, social isolation and mental health problems.
A consortium of local charities, social enterprises and community groups will manage the Makerspace. They will ensure that the facility is efficiently run, maintained to a high standard and offers imaginative use of the spaces to a broad sector of the community.
