We're converting a large warehouse in the centre of Bognor Regis into an exciting community makerspace and need to raise funds to install two accessible toilets on the ground floor.
A partnership of charities and social enterprises has come together to establish an inclusive new community enterprise in the form of a shared and collaborative Makerspace located in Longford Road, two minutes walk from Bognor railway station. It will provide unique facilities to make, build, repair, design and sell that will benefit children, young people and adults and help to build a skilled workforce for West Sussex. We'll run training programmes that help people to learn new skills, achieve their employment objectives and build confidence. We'll also provide supported training and work experience opportunities for adults with learning disabilities and mental health issues. The Makerspace will host high-quality arts activities that will benefit the community, offer bespoke training and enhance West Sussex’s reputation as an important national cultural centre. The first task will be to install two new toilets!
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Unique training opportunities for all ages in an area of deprivation. Opportunity for anyone to access free training in employability skills and other qualifications. Reducing social isolation and helping people make friends. Creating artistic projects which will be presented in Bognor Regis.

We're all so grateful for the tremendous support from the many individuals and groups that contributed to our New Loos appeal. Having reached the target, we are moving swiftly to start the installation of two splendid, accessible toilets. If all goes to plan we should have them ready for use by the end of February. The other great news is that the Communities Lottery has awarded us £8,650 to pay for a kitchen which means we will be able to host community events, run cookery classes and provide a sociable cafe on the ground floor of the Makerspace. We're taking the opportunity of lockdown to get cracking with the kitchen so that when things do relax, we'll be ready to welcome people in! Again, many thanks for donating - your generosity is really appreciated. Best wishes, Hilary Strong (one of the Makerspace directors)
Brilliant news, thanks everyone!
