Slow cooker loan scheme
Cheshire LiveIn the Blacon Beacon shop, there are shelves lined with various dry and ambient goods, from pasta and noodles to tins of kidney beans, frozen meals and nappies and sanitary products. When we arrived, there had been a rush on goods, with some empty spots on the shelves left which will be restocked.\n\nA foodbank also operates from the centre, with demand rising as people get closer to pay day.\n\nCouncillor Sheila Little said they were pleased to be able to run the shop as part of the scheme, with a

The environment
We take donations of food which would otherwise go to landfill, so protecting the environment
The local economy
People have been able to receive good quality healthy food from us, and so they have had more in the ir budget to be able to spend on other things.
Volunteering, jobs & education
Volunteers are involved with packing our food bags, assisting with members in the store, delivering food to those who are housebound, helping with cooking courses and slow cooker recipe bags, and signposting people to further help at our cafe.
