We are looking for funding to help us buy more fresh fruit and veg so that we can give really healthy food bags to those who need them most.
Blacon Beacon is a charity which provides food bags for families and individuals in Blacon who are struggling to make ends meet. It is unfair if someone who is short of money, also ends up with poor health because they are unable to manage a healthy meal for themselves or their family. A healthy diet is shown to improve people's mental as well as physical health. So, as well as giving things like tinned and packet food, we also want to provide a bag of fresh fruit and vegetables. Your funding will help us to continue to provide fruit and veg for our members in the coming months.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
We serve the local area - so this will help Blacon residents. It will help improve their mental and physical health, by providing fresh fruit and vegetables to add to their food bags. Providing this service at a time when people find it hard to make ends meet, will also aid them in getting back on their feet once more.
Steps to get it done:
Blacon Beacon benefits those who receive food bags each week, also those who receive Foodbank parcels from us, and in addition, those who volunteer for us, and gain work experience through us. We also provide computer support and help direct people to other support, such as Citizens Advice.
