Bassuah Legacy Foundation (BLF) is a registered local charitable organisation based in Hammersmith & Fulham, founded in 2019 by a single parent committed to supporting vulnerable families in our community. Our mission is to empower single-parent families, young people and residents facing financial hardship by providing practical support, skills training, volunteering opportunities, and a welcoming space to connect and thrive.
Our team is made up of passionate volunteers and trustees from BAME backgrounds, many with lived experience of single parenting and community work. We work closely with local residents, listening to their needs and involving them in shaping our programmes. This ensures everything we do is relevant, meaningful, and driven by the community.
BLF already supports over 300 families annually through wellbeing programmes such as yoga, pilates, and dance, as well as employment and volunteering initiatives, basic skills workshops, sustainable fashion and upcycling projects, community events, and essential shopping support. Our charity shop is a hub for affordable, sustainable clothing & essential household items and a place for people to give back to their community.
We pride ourselves on building trust, celebrating achievements, and promoting social inclusion. Residents tell us they feel supported, less isolated, and more confident because of the connections and opportunities we provide. By expanding our Sustainable Community Hub Project, we aim to reach 200–300 residents each year, providing a stable, accessible, and safe space where people can develop skills, contribute through volunteering, improve wellbeing, and build brighter futures for themselves and their families.
Our approach is grassroots, inclusive, and measurable. We track progress, gather testimonials, and evaluate outcomes to ensure our work has a real and lasting impact. With your support, BLF can continue to strengthen our local community, promote sustainable practices, and give families the tools and confidence to thrive.
