The idea

Bassuah Legacy Foundation will expand its Sustainable Community Hub in Hammersmith & Fulham, providing opportunities for local families and residents to access skills training, volunteering, wellbeing activities and essential support.

The hub will serve H&F residents focusing on areas where many families face financial hardship, unemployment and social isolation including Wormholt, White City & Cleverly Estate.

Through structured activities including employability training, sustainable fashion and upcycling workshops, volunteering placements, community events and family support services, the project will help people gain confidence, develop practical skills and strengthen community connections.

Each year the programme will support 200–300 residents, helping individuals build brighter futures and strengthen the local community.

What we'll deliver

  • Support 200–300 local residents each year through community hub activities
  • Generate 3,000 hours of community volunteering annually
  • Run two 8-week health and wellbeing programmes
  • Deliver 3 basic skills and training programmes
  • Provide essential shopping support to 300 individuals
  • Host 8 community events and awareness activities each year
  • Promoting reuse and sustainable waste reduction practices

Why it's a great idea

The BLF Sustainable Community Hub Project will create long-term benefits for individuals, families and the wider community.

Residents will gain access to volunteering opportunities, skills training and employment support that help build confidence, improve pathways into education, training and work.

Health and wellbeing programmes will support participants to improve their physical and mental wellbeing, reducing isolation and strengthening community connections.

Families facing financial hardship will benefit from essential shopping support and access to affordable clothing and house items through our reuse initiatives.

The project will also deliver environmental benefits by promoting clothing reuse, repair and recycling, reducing environmental waste within the community.

By bringing people together through volunteering, training and community events, the project will strengthen social cohesion, increase community participation and create a supportive local network.
