About the Project Creator
My Sisters’ Kitchen (MSK) Community Food Project was originally a project ran by FISCUS NORTH LIMITED (charity 1151656); this project has now been developed into a stand-alone social enterprise, commercially trading, community kitchen, bakery and training facility.
We are based on the outskirts of the city centre, and run fully funded and paid cooking workshops for people of all ages from across our City. We use cooking as a tool to educate, empower and connect. We particularly support women who face disadvantage / barriers by helping improve their self-esteem.
Our vision is to help anyone in our community, especially those in marginalised groups and those facing barriers and inequalities; these people will benefit by increased: self-worth, confidence, motivation, self-belief, and increased aspirations. Our community food project helps equip people with transferable skills for the working world.
We are a partner of Bags of Taste and in 2023 we will deliver their courses to 120 people living in food poverty in Sunderland. For more information about Bags of Taste and the impact they have on the people they support, visit their website https://bagsoftaste.org.
Mens Pie Club Sunderland happens in our kitchen each Friday https://www.menspieclub.co.uk/ and Bounceback Food https://bouncebackfood.co.uk/ will share our community kitchen from April 2023 to continue the great work that they're doing across England.
