Guildford DragonIts says the improved garden at its studio at St Peter’s Catholic School in Merrow features an art space, a sensory garden, a herb garden, fruit bushes, a rock garden and a swing chair.\n\nAnd that creating the garden was a true community effort. Cllr Potter was the first to support the idea and offered £5,000 through Your Fund Surrey, the rest of the funds needed were secured with a crowdfunding campaign – Guildford Borough Council matched the funds donated by more than 40 backers of the project.

More about our impact
The environment
We have planted 8 new bushes and planted a sensory garden with a new grassy area and some fruit bushes.
Volunteering, jobs & education
Our garden needs a volunteer who will be able to support us maintaining the garden and will also make sure that the participants are involved in the process.
Arts, culture & heritage
We have created a new outdoor art space for our learning disabled participants to use. We can also use our garden, the flowers and plants we grow in our garden in our art projects.
Activity, health and leisure
We aim to involve our participants as much as we can in the creation and maintenance of the garden. We believe that gardening is therapeutic and we hope our participants will benefit from this new opportunity.
