Engage Here’s mission is to empower and stimulate people living with dementia through the use of the creative arts.
This is primarily done by conducting collaborative art workshops between a facilitator and those experiencing dementia, alongside their carer. Many of the tools we use in the workshops are kept by the participants which gives them the means to continue beyond the time with the facilitator.
Our workshops specifically seek to help people living with mild dementia, however this positive cognitive impact also improves the wellbeing of their carers, family, friends, and even reduces strain on the healthcare system.
We also run workshop programmes for carers away from the people they care for, as well as individual workshops for the general public, which begin with a dementia awareness introduction, as a means of educating the wider public about dementia.
Our workshops currently exist online in light of covid-19, but normally atleast half of them exist in person, we have a strong focus on print-making and crafts, which lends itself to face-to-face teaching.
As we gain more financial stability we also aim to produce products and packages which people with dementia can engage with outside of the space of a workshop.
