More about our impact
The environment
We have installed LED lighting throughout the building and commissioned an energy report which we have begun to impliment. We use efficient heating sourced from heating pumps and we operate a paperless office.
The local economy
Applecart hosts a number of not for profit and social enterprises in the building. We have developed a micro economy with artists, charities and small businesses developing partnerships and adding value to each other's work and we have attracted a further £45,000 investment.
Volunteering, jobs & education
Our new cafe and project funding has increased employment opportunities for 9 people and we operate work experience placements for people interest in pursuing careers in marketing, technical services and the hospitality industry.
Arts, culture & heritage
Applecart has supported over 3,000 artists since we opened the building in 2021. Our theatre continues to welcome emerging practitioners on a daily basis, our art studios are fully occupied providing full time creative space for up to 15 artists, and our exhibition space has presented work from visual artists from all ages and ethnic backgrounds. We have also programmed a number of outdoor festivals involving performers, artists, craft's people, producers, directors and technicians.
Activity, health and leisure
We currently run a number of programmes to promote wellbeing and health, including fitness dance classes, a reminiscence cafe and numerous training programmes run by our local health centre.
