The Village Hall has served the local community since 1926. It is a registered Charity, managed by the Hall Trustees whose role is to ensure the Hall offers a welcoming & safe venue for all. It is suitable for a wide variety of activities. Our vision is to grow community involvement by expanding use of the Hall and greater community participation. Implementing a project to install solar panels will play a big role in achieving the vision and deliver many benefits. Project delivery is estimated for mid 2024 once funding is in place. Three technical studies from companies have confirmed that the project's benefits can be achieved. Our preferred company is CP Jefferies Ltd, based in Ampney Crucis, which means we will support a local business. A 11 kWp solar PV system is proposed comprising 22 solar panels on the SE facing roof with 1 x 3 phase inverter & 1 x 9.2 kWh battery. Funding will be sought through local community engagement, direct fundraising & Crowdfund Cotswold.

What we'll deliver:

  • A solar panel installation tailored to the Hall environment that will achieve the planned benefits
  • Solar energy generation for daily usage with any surplus to batteries for off-peak use & any excess sold to the grid.
  • Increase Hall usage and the range of activities

Why it's a great idea:

Benefits from the project will be realised for the local community and all current and potential users, ie 1 Ampney Crucis Village - a quality facility in a well known area of the Cotswolds 2 The Local Community - expanded range of activities 3 Grant Bodies/Donors - association with a high quality location 4 Users (Children & Adults) - opportunities for new activities 5 Clubs & Societies - enhanced quality of the facility Specific Benefits 1 Energy Cost Saving - a reduction in energy costs (at least 50%) 2 Reduction in Running Costs - improvement in our financial position 3 A More Affordable Facility - charges at levels to attract new users 4 Environmental Benefits - reduction in CO2 emissions taking environmental issues seriously 5 Preservation of Village Heritage - future benefits for Village Community 6 Expansion of the Range of Activities - grow uses & Hall bookings 7 Community Support & Involvement - engagement to generate a sense of belonging

Steps to get it done:

  • The award of a contract to install Solar Panels by 1 March 2024
  • Commissioning of the new Solar Panel system by 30 June 2024
