More about our impact
The environment
Our workshop continues to be the hub of Chorley Sheds, with its new roof! We continue to upcycle timber and repair wooden items. Regularly turning wood that was once destined for the skip into useful and artistic pieces that have value to our members and the broader Chorley community.
The local economy
We have continued to both build new, and repair existing, wooden structures in the local community. From building furniture for a local foundation focused on supporting young children in sport, through to repairing planters in a local community centre. The work of Chorley Sheds is to find purpose in enhancing our local community.
Volunteering, jobs & education
Our repairs to the roof enabled the workshop to continue being the hub of Chorley Sheds and our membership has more than doubled in 2025.
Arts, culture & heritage
When we work on a project there is a broad range of suggestions on how we might achieve the goal. With in that discussion there are aspects of creativity, past experience and the expression of cultural values.
Activity, health and leisure
Physically working with wood is a hands on task. Our members benefit from both the camaraderie of working with other members but also the active task of moving materials, tools and finished products about the site. Also, anyone who has cut a 2 by 4 with a hand saw knows its a workout!
