We are awaiting sign off on the venue & will keep all backers updated. The Peace Yoga Foundation is dedicated to the development and implementation of yoga and mindfulness classes and programs for supporting those with stress, depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, and those recovering from all types of addictions. Through the Yoga for Active Hope Project we will deliver free and subsidised Yoga & Mindfulness classes to people in the greatest need in our community; to promote mental, social, physical and community wellbeing across Essex. Each of the classes would involve at least half an hour of social time afterwards to help to build community spirit and new resilience. We will make Yoga & Mindfulness accessible to people who might not otherwise have ready access to it, either because of affordability, physical ability, social isolation or otherwise.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Britain now has a serious problem with loneliness. More than nine million people in the country often feel lonely, according to a 2017 report published by the Jo Cox Commission on Loneliness. For far too many people, loneliness is the sad reality of modern life. A new body of research now reveals that feeling chronically lonely is a cause behind heart disease, dementia, depression, and a host of other serious illnesses. The UK has gone so far as to create a Ministry for Loneliness. We want to confront this challenge starting with our community in Essex and to take action to address the loneliness endured by many in our communities. We want to offer Active Hope in our community through these practices because when people are feeling lonely, depressed, sad, or broken they reach for a pill, or other drugs, or a drink to eliminate their feelings of loneliness and frustration. But with free access to Yoga and Mindfulness people in Essex will have a life affirming alternative.

Hello everyone! Before Christmas I asked some of my wonderful friends to support our small project, which we are setting up here in the Essex. Thank you so much to all of you who have supported and already made the donations and we are most grateful for your support. We have now just 2 weeks left to get this project of the ground and if any of our other friends would like to support in this we would be forever grateful for this support. You can donate via our crowdfunding page https://www.spacehive.com/yoga-for-active-hope Here is the little reminder again what this project is all about. A group of activist friends and I are concerned about the trend towards social isolation in our communities and have come up with a plan of action to rebuild local communities in Essex using the tools of yoga and mindfulness. Yoga has played a huge part in stabilising me mentally, emotionally, and physically. and it has been a tool that has seen me through very challenging times of my life. We would now like to roll out a pilot scheme in Essex, where our group is based, to support the community to grow and to heal using these wonderful systems of self- healing and self- transformation. We would like to be able to offer free and low-cost Yoga and mindfulness sessions to those in most need at present in our communities in Essex, who might not otherwise be able to afford to attend classes. To this end we have set up a crowdfunding page to raise funds and awareness for the project and we have raised about £10,800 so far, but we still need to raise about £ 9,000 to get this project of the ground. This programme is very much needed here in the UK, because of epidemic of loneliness and social isolation. We have a detailed report on this issue that over 9 million people in the UK are lonely and socially isolated. If you could find the time to take a look at these links and consider making a donation, however small, https://www.spacehive.com/yoga-for-active-hope I would be really grateful for your support; and if you would be happy to share this link with any of your relevant contacts, who might also consider donating or sharing, then then this would be a tremendous gesture of support that will help us to move towards our target of being able to offer support to those in the greatest need at present in our communities in Essex. This project has been inspired by the work of the late Jo Cox on loneliness. Here are the two links, one to the crowdfunding page and other to the website about the project. Let’s get united against loneliness. Please support by donating and spreading the word. Make your donation: https://www.spacehive.com/yoga-for-active-hope https://www.peaceyogafoundation.org
