xChange Studios - Creative Education
We want to transform a disused building into a centre for creative and cultural education for disadvantaged youth in Margate. The building will be a place of training and youth engagement.
About the Project Creator
As a result of this campaign we will be able to expand our programmes and reach within our community and this ultimately means we will be able to work with more young people and provide them with access to space, equipment and learning opportunities they would otherwise not recieve. The space will also enable us to deliver regular community events, including art exhibitions, film screenings, performances and readings.
Arts Education Exchange is a non-profit creative education provider for marginalised youth living in East Kent. The ArtsEd focus is to harness the potential of young people – to inspire social engagement through creative processes and to provide pathways to continued education, employment or work based training. We work in partnership with schools, universities, local youth services, arts organisations and creative practitioners to deliver bespoke arts programmes that tackle issues of social exclusion and low skills. Additionally, our projects help build self-confidence and improve social and emotional wellbeing by engaging young people with their identity, by interacting and communicating with others through creative activities and by connecting with their locality. We believe developing an understanding of these themes leads to a greater sense of belonging and purpose.
We have formed partnerships with Turner Contemporary, University for the Creative Arts, Dreamland and many more local services and organisations as well as schools and youth centres.
