The idea
My event is a community street party on 30th August. It will provide activities for families, children and the whole community. Perhaps we won’t have all of this in year one, but think live music, children’s activities (already committed are music activities and the use of an historic printing press, then things like play or fairground activities), food and drinks, stalls, comedy, art and more. The event will take place during the daytime, from noon-8PM. My event aims to encourage economic regeneration by bringing in local communities in addition to those in the town. Nibley Festival had its final event in 2024 so there is a big gap for an event like this, especially a free one. It will encourage the community to be in Wotton for the last weekend in August, spending locally rather than on holiday. There will be volunteer and growth opportunities as well as work experience placements. I have built a committee, including leadership from the town council, various important organisations.

Why it's a great idea
Encourage local spending at the end of the summer holidays. Bring families and more from nearby communities to the town. Provide volunteer opportunities. Encourage collaboration between businesses, local government and more.
