The Woodford Green Amenity Group has an historical reputation of providing floral displays, via hanging baskets which has drawn appreciation from the members of the public. For this coming year we would like to ensure the Broadway has both hanging baskets and flower troughs. The troughs would contain display cards including information on the various types of flowers in both the hanging baskets and troughs, explaining their importance in the overall environment. The display cards would be drafted so that children and adults together would be able to discuss the importance of flowers. Particular emphasis would be placed on the numerous bees species, all known to be under threat and other insects types that would be attracted to the flower pollen, with particular emphasis on their effect on the overall environment. Local school children would be invited down to help in the initial planting of the troughs and baskets.

Why it's a great idea:

The project will help to make Woodford Broadway look and feel like the desirable, family friendly place that it is. The beauty of the flowers will help to encourage local shoppers to the area benefiting the local economy. It will also help the bio-diversity of the area. We will also engage the local community in the planting of the flowers ensuring that local children and families are educated on the flowers and the importance of bio-diversity to the local area.
