Expanding our hand-tools with wood carving tools and running some classes using them

We want to buy some woodwork tools to complement the hand-tools we already have at the makerspace. Carving, wittling and threading wood will allow us to shape wood into decorative and practical designs. The items that could be made include spoons, woodblocks for printing, relief carving on wooden furniture, wooden animals and wizards, cups (kuksa), printing/bookbinding presses (utilizing the threading tool to make wooden threads).
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Through learning, practice and teaching, we will keep heritage skills alive. By making specialist tools available for both members of LAMM and the general public, we reduce the barriers to both leisure and entrepreneurial wood crafting.

Still plenty of places for the whittling and carving classes on 1st April, 7th May and 6th June. https://opencollective.com/lancaster-and-morecambe-makers/events I've converted all the tickets for the 1st April to paying tickets - if you still want to take your reward that day, please contact me. Not many people have taken up the rewards, so far. Are people happy just to contribute the money or were you just unable to attend these dates? Do you have any requests?
There will be more spoon carving (whittling) classes if these first 2 are popular. There will also be relief carving classes and maybe other styles of wood carving, as well, later in the summer. Don't worry if you have a reward to claim and can't make either of these two initial sessions, there will be more opportunities!
We've organised the first two carving sessions for you. They are £5-20 or, if you have us at least £15 then you get a free ticket: 1st April 1pm: https://opencollective.com/lancaster-and-morecambe-makers/events/spoon-carving-bb64e94a 7th May 6pm: https://opencollective.com/lancaster-and-morecambe-makers/events/spoon-carving-a06b8bfc
