Witney Mills Cricket Club recently celebrated it's centenary year in 2021. Some the greats of the sport have played at the ground over the years including the most famous of cricketers WG Grace. In recent years, both senior and junior sides of the club have grown rapidly currently we have 70 senior and 160 junior members. The ground is buzzing throughout the week from April to September with training/matches taking place everyday of the week. We also take part in the ECB All Star and Dynamo initiatives for the younger ages and have just set up our first girls only hardball side alongside our girls only Dynamo team. To allow us to adapt to the increase in membership, we need to urgently update the practice facilities. We currently have 1 fixed cricket net which runs onto the outfield so cannot be used when matches take place. This also has limitations on the number of players who can train at the same time. In addition, the game has changed rapidly in recent years with more balls being hit into the road. A ball striking risk assessment was undertaken and we were advised to significantly increase the current height of the perimeter fencing. As a club we have to reduce risk wherever possible and therefore need to ensure the fencing height is increased in the required area.
