The idea
We are a small group of amateur astronomers and we have been going now for 3 years, growing slowly (3 new members last month!)
To continue and be able to welcome new members to join us we need more equipment. We meet the first Thursday of each month in the Wincham Community Centre at 7pm to 9pm, if the skys are clear we put telescopes outside after the talk at Lionards Lane park Wincham.
We are in the process of researching a larger project to build our own community observatory, but until we can find a suitable spot we want to focus on our monthly 'pop up meetings' and welcoming more community members!
What we'll deliver
- An 8 inch telescope for public to use when we are in the park
- Astronomy equipment for the community group to use
Why it's a great idea
We will be showing the public around the universe and educate them on Astronomy!
An exciting educational resource for all ages - we will hold free open days for the public of all ages to learn about the Cosmos
Bringing people together in a safe, welcoming environment to make friends over shared interests.
