The Parish of Willington has one defibrillator, located centrally at Willington Corner. In the event of a cardiac arrest, the chances of survival are greatly increased if a defibrillator is readily accessible at all times and is nearby! The time taken to access a defibrillator is of the upmost importance. Travel to and from the extremities of the Parish to the present defibrillator will take several minutes even by car; strategically locating two additional publicly accessible (24/7) defibrillators will reduce access time to a couple of minutes, significantly increasing a patients chances of survival. Two additional sites have been identified at Willington Hall and at The Boot Inn. These businesses have a high footfall of visitors, so the benefit will be for both parishioners and visitors alike.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
*Making Willington a safer community to live and work in and to visit. * Speedy access to a defibrillator if someone is experiencing a cardiac arrest. * Potentially life saving kit. * Registered on the BHF National database, accessible to 999 services. * Publicly available 24/7
Steps to get it done:
Willington has trained more than a quarter of our small (c. 230), adult population in CPR and the use of a defibrillator. It now needs the additional kit to provide potential life saving delivery.
