This project focuses on volunteer-driven grassroots conservation in Tamworth, where five dedicated groups work tirelessly to maintain and improve local nature reserves. Through their efforts, Broad Meadow LNR, Tameside LNR, Warwickshire Moor LNR, Hodge Lane LNR, and Dosthill Park LNR thrive as havens for wildlife and community enjoyment. The initiative seeks funding to enhance these green spaces by acquiring materials to improve the sites for people and wildlife, for example wildflowers, trees, benches, and boardwalk materials. In collaboration with Staffordshire Wildlife Trust, the groups receive essential support in volunteer recruitment, health and safety, insurance, and coordination with Tamworth Borough Council. Together, they strive to enrich biodiversity and create welcoming natural environments that balance the needs of people and wildlife. This project underscores the importance of safeguarding local ecosystems while fostering community engagement and connection with nature.
