Our project helps thousands of children and young people and their families to deal with problems which are affecting their mental health including bullying, abuse, self harm, depression, attachment issues and much more. We have been in operation for almost 40 years. We have a nice Centre which we run on low budgets but we need your help to raise funding for the frontage of our building, the windows do not open and are draughty in the winter and we have no air in summer months, also the frontage is mainly hardboard. New windows and frontage will improve the Building from the outside and also the inside. We have plans approved a few years ago by Dudley, we need your help to action this. The money we spend on heating in trying to keep the building warm in cold months is huge. We pride ourselves on providing a great service for children and young people and their growth with us is amazing. Your help with donations makes a difference and help us to continue to make a difference

What we'll deliver:

  • A building which enhances the street
  • A welcoming building to children and young people
  • A better environment within the building, good air flow
  • Increased counselling happening

Why it's a great idea:

Coventry Street is a nice street there has been much money spent on its improvement and our building is lagging behind this. They will see a safer building which also conforms to planning laws for its minor listing. We feel that the improvements in the building will also help to enhance its appeal to other in the community who may wish to purchase counselling for themselves through our Social Enterprise which in turn then funds the charitable work. We feel also that it will help us to secure our contracts for working with children and young people and which are currently funded through Black Country NHS Foundation Trust who totally support our application. Also a building offering counselling and health and well-being services has to have an environment where clean air through being able to open windows is able to circulate through the building and helping to reduce our carbon footprint. We are experiencing as national research back up, vast increases in referrals of CYP

Steps to get it done:

  • Finalising the plans
  • Liaising with the builders to order the windows
  • Get the frontage and the windows installed
  • Launch the updated Centre by inviting project supporters

We have full plans for the changes to the building. We have £1,000 in kind to add to this bid. Children and young people who use our services grow in confidence and self esteem whilst with us and are more likely to engage more in the community as a result of counselling and support, which in turn leads to improved family lives and greater involvement in the community, taking part in activities and pursuing leisure activities which the family has not been able to do while they were going through difficult time with regard to their child's mental health or breakdowns in family relationships. Our economy will also be boosted by people who are seeking private counselling have the realization that they too can use our services, and that the fee they pay goes towards helping the charitable aims of the charity. The environment will be helped through the improvements in the street wit how the premises look, but also the internal environment of being able to get fresh air into the building.
